Simone Vagnozzi and Darren Cahill explain Jannik Sinner’s strategy for 2026

There is not much time to celebrate Jannik Sinner’s triumph at the ATP Finals in Turin.
Simone Vagnozzi and Darren Cahill are already looking ahead to 2026 and outlining the strategy by which the Sesto Pusteria outfielder can take back the throne of world tennis, which by 2025 is the preserve of Carlos Alcaraz. Here are the words of the two coaches, starting with Vagnozzi.
“What will it be like to start from scratch next year? We have already restarted and we don’t think about what happened anymore. In the difficult stages we were good at thinking about what we could control in those moments, so the tennis court.”
“It will be exciting to restart, I am a coach who likes to build and not manage. So we will try to put new things into Jannik, to increase his arsenal and make him a better tennis player, that is our goal”.
“The Australian Open was a confirmation of what we did the year before. Wimbledon is the dream of every player and every coach, maybe winning there made us arrive a little bit drained in New York. And winning here in Turin means going on a happy vacation.”
Cahill adds, “The first exchange shot is the most important, and an incredible job was done with Simone. Sometimes Jannik slows down the speed of the first ball a little bit, but he is very accurate near the lines. The first serve, the first exchange stroke and the response are the keys to tennis today.”
“The beauty of working with someone like Sinner is that he is already very strong, but at the same time he can still improve in so many aspects. The preparation for 2026? It will take place between Dubai in the first part and Monte Carlo in the second,” concludes Vagnozzi.
