Biathlon, World Cup kicks off: Lisa Vittozzi returns to the call-up list

The 2025-2026 Biathlon World Cup is now upon us. Five women and six men will participate in the first leg, scheduled on the Swedish track in Oestersund from Saturday, Nov. 29 to Sunday, Dec. 7.
Technical director Klaus Hoellrigl has summoned Lisa Vittozzi (returning to an official competition after missing the entire last season due to a back injury), Dorothea Wierer, Michela Carrara, Hannah Auchentaller, and Samuela Comola among the women.
On the men’s side, however, eyes are on Tommaso Giacomel, who made the podium five times in the last World Cup edition. Also on the list are Didier Bionaz, Daniele Cappellari, Lukas Hofer, Elia Zeni, and Patrick Braunhofer.

The program will open on Saturday, Nov. 29, with the relays, which will be followed by the mixed relays on Sunday, Nov. 30, followed by the women’s individual on Tuesday, Dec. 2, the men’s individual on Wednesday, Dec. 3, the women’s sprint on Friday, Dec. 5, the men’s sprint on Saturday, Dec. 6, and the two pursuits on Sunday, Dec. 7. The composition of the relays will be announced by the coaching staff two days before the start of the races.
