Cremonese in love with Jamie Vardy: "A champion not by chance"
Cremonese is enjoying the great impact that Jamie Vardy has had on the grigiorossa team and on Serie A in general, with two goals already scored in the first seven games played in Italy’s top league. More specifically, sporting director Simone Giacchetta wanted to explain how much the experienced English striker has affected the fortunes of the team led by Davide Nicola.
“Regardless of the number of goals he will score – Giacchetta told ‘Radio Sportiva’, referring to Vardy -, his presence will not go unnoticed. The fact that a champion of his caliber choosing to come to us shows his humility and his desire to always prove himself. He has the hunger and nastiness that have accompanied him in winning all his successes”.
“It is a new environment and mentality for him, but Vardy is not a champion by chance– continued the Cremonese ds. Players like him have something more to them than everyone else, and I am not just referring to the technical rate, they have a different mentality. He is the first to arrive at training sessions, he never spares himself, he is an example for all his teammates”.
Giacchetta, however, also wanted to dwell on other protagonists of Davide Nicola’s Cremonese. Starting with Federico Bonazzoli: “We are not surprised by him, he has skills as a high-level footballer. In fact, we are surprised when he fails to express them. And then he is the league’s vice-leading scorer, for us it is a satisfaction”. Praise also for Jari Vandeputte: “He is surprising everyone, he manages to maintain a high level in every competition and in multiple roles. He was an assist man in Serie B and is confirming himself in A even by changing his role”.
Finally, Giacchetta also spoke about the work done in recent months by Davide Nicola. “The coach has something special, he manages to make teams like ours give something extra. A satisfaction for us to have him with us since the beginning of the summer, he has given us strength and credibility in building our project. Certainly we have always learned from past experiences and also from the last time in A. We have created a more Italian spirit this time with a backbone of players with experience in the category, then with Vardy we have created enthusiasm and increased the technical rate”, said the Cremonese ds.
