NBA Europe, now getting serious: project underway, kickoff in 2027

The’NBA is ready to take on Europe. The NBA Europe project is taking more and more shape, so much so that there is already talk of the start of the first, long-awaited season as early as 2027.

As explained by NBA commissioner Adam Silver in the past, the goal is to bring the NBA model to Europe as well, a continent where basketball has a large following but that passion, authentic and true, does not generate the revenue needed to sustain a league (the Euroleague, from this point of view, is a clear example, with so many clubs suffering economically).

The’NBA is confident that it can implement a winning project. There are rumors of a 16-team tournament with 12 fixed and four entered “for sporting merit”. This would still give everyone a chance to enter the golden world of NBA Europe.

Italy should have two places with one club in Milan and one in Rome. Mind you, Milan doesn&#8217t necessarily have to be represented by Olimpia (who, however, seems interested). The’NBA has reiterated that there could be brand new franchises, born out of thin air. What about the Euroleague? For now it is watching, hoping to find a way to coexist with a project that seems ambitious and large-scale.
