Andrea Pinamonti confesses his admiration for Jannik Sinner

Sassuolo striker Andrea Pinamonti told “Cronache di spogliatoio” that as a child he also played tennis and was very good at it, then he chose soccer and now he greatly admires Jannik Sinner also because for boys born and raised in Trentino Alto-Adige (although in truth Pinamonti is from the province of Trento and Sinner from the province of Bolzano) it is not easy to realize one’s dreams of sports glory. Here are Pinamonti’s words.
“The glory that Sinner is getting inside me is worth double: those who were not born in Trentino Alto-Adige can hardly understand. Sinner’s success affects me in a special way: I know what it means to cultivate a dream in sports while being born in Trentino-South Tyrol.”
“The geographical and environmental barrier is an obstacle to overcome: when I started, I would drive an hour and a half to the camp. We were born in a beautiful but isolated region. Seeing a countryman of mine taking on the world I know is worth double.”
“Commuting is not easy here, families make great sacrifices to allow their children to play a sport. My parents allowed me to have a different life from my friends who stayed in Tremntino Alto-Adige, making me go to Chievo and then Inter.”
“Sinner is one of those guys who since childhood has put sacrifices before everything. Seeing him on the roof of the world entices me to watch him. I played both soccer and tennis as a kid. I had a knack for it. The day I chose soccer, my tennis teacher started crying.”
