Ettore Messina sheds light on the missed timeout in the finale

Ettore Messina spoke after his Olimpia Milano’s external defeat: “Good job Trieste won with merit. We had an extremely objectionable approach to the game, we conceded 30 points in the first quarter and this unfortunately steered the game in a certain direction”.
“Slowly we got back into the game, we even got to overtake them with four or three minutes to go, however, we never had the necessary lucidity in a couple of possessions, both defensive and offensive, to close a game that had become complicated for them”, added the coach of the red and white.
“LeDaywas injured twice. He was out for a good month, came back, played one game, got hurt and stayed another ten days. He is in a condition if pitiful, from a physical point of view, and he thrives on athleticism”.
“The reason for not calling timeouton the last play? First, because in the timeoutpreviously we had told them what they had to do, then because Trieste didn’t have the bonus yet, he would have fouled out around the 14” mark and that’s when I would have called him”.
