A Milan made the derby della Madonnina its own by beating Inter 1-0 thanks to Christian Pulisic’s goal and Hakan Calhanoglu’s penalty parried by Mike Maignan. A result of great importance for the Rossoneri also in terms of the standings: in addition to overtaking their cousins, it comes -2 from Roma in the lead. And Massimiliano Allegri in the post-match in San Siro emphasizes the merits of his team.

“The match was beautiful and entertaining, and the victory is important – stressed Allegri to the microphones of ‘DAZN’ -. In the first quarter of an hour I saw Milan a little bit blocked, then we played definitely better. In the second half, after our goal, it was normal for Inter to attack us. However, we were good at defending with order, even creating counterattack chances that could have led to a double”.

Allegri was particularly pleased with an AC Milan side that appeared even more mature after making the derby its own. “This victory confirms the’trend of our championship – was the consideration of the Rossoneri coach -. In high-level matches the tension must remain high, and we need more nastiness in the restarts. In this sense we still need to take a step forward, but having beaten Inter’s is important on a psychological level. Because we could have found ourselves -5, and instead we are in front. And staying in the top four was really crucial”.

Milan this season, moreover, appears particularly on the ball in direct clashes. “To have won them all is a source of great joy for us. However, there are championships in which you lose decisive points to the small ones. In the end our ranking reflects what we deserve at the moment. But we can still improve in athletic condition and offensive pressure” concluded Allegri.
