Pulisic and Maignan give Milan derby and overtaking Inter Milan

Milan victorious in the derby against Inter Milan, decided by Christian Pulisic’s goal and Mike Maignan’s penalty save to the big ex of the match Hakan Calhanoglu, who is always particularly disliked by the Rossoneri crowd. The 1-0 win at the San Siro, moreover, allows Massimiliano Allegri’s team not only to overtake its cousins in the standings, but also to move just two points behind Roma, currently the Serie A leaders.
The game opened with a goal by Christian Pulic and a penalty saved by Mike Maignic.
The match opened with Maignan’s first feat in an evening that would prove to be one of grace for the Milan goalkeeper: decisive was his reflex on Thuram’s’framing shot. Then Sucic on one side and Bartesaghi on the other tried unsuccessfully. Very unlucky Inter, which before halftime hit a crossbar with Acerbi and a post with Lautaro Martinez.
The goal is in the air, and you don’t need to wait too long to see it in the second half. However, it was Milan who scored it, thanks to a restart initiated by Fofana and leading to Saelemaekers shot: Sommer is not perfect and on the rebound Pulisic strikes him. The minute is 54′ and the goal will prove to be the’only one in a match still full of emotions and episodes, however.
There is no shortage of chances for either Inter or Milan, but at 74′ the one that could give the Nerazzurri an equalizer is colossal: the Var awards a penalty for a contact in the box between Pavlovic and Thuram, but from the penalty spot it is Maignan who wins the duel with Calhanoglu. The Rossoneri goalkeeper would then also say no to Dimarco and Diouf, while in the final it all went wrong for Bonny: Inter lost the derby and dropped to fourth place in the standings, -1 behind its cousins.
