Real Madrid, bad gaffe about Diogo Jota’s brother

Real Madrid’s ugly gaffe against the late brother of Diogo Jota immediately went viral on social media. The blancos, during the Ordinary General Assembly of Represented Members, paid tribute to all the footballers who died in 2025. A photo of the two soccer players who died in a tragic accident last July, Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva, also appeared on the big screen. But the’image of the second footballer is that of another André Silva, the’former Milan striker, now a player at Elche.

On social media, Real Madrid immediately apologized: “Real Madrid CF apologizes to Elche CF and its player André da Silva for mistakenly including his image in the obituary of an institutional video instead of that of André Silva, brother of Diogo Jota, Liverpool player. We regret the’incident”.

On the night of July 2 to 3, 2025, Diogo Jota, a 28-year-old star for Liverpool and the Portuguese national team, and his younger brother André Silva, 25, a striker for Penafiel, lost their lives in a terrible car accident in Spain.

The two were traveling in a rented Lamborghini Huracán on their way to Santander to board a ferry to the United Kingdom.
