Sensational: Norris and Piastri’s McLarens disqualified, Verstappen celebrates

Clamorous what happened at the end of the Las Vegas GP. The two McLarens of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were disqualified for irregularities related to excessive plank wear, thus uneven bottom. A decision, the one made by the commissioners, that goes all in favor of Max Verstappen who, all of a sudden, is back in full race for the World title. Also celebrates Antonelli who thus ends up on the podium, behind his teammate Russell.

The four-time World Champion finds himself, thanks to the disqualification of the McLarens, “only” 24 points behind Lando Norris, the World Championship leader (same gap for Oscar Piastri). A remarkable gain, considering that the Briton saw the 18 points he had gained on the track and which had allowed him to hold his Dutch rival to -42 points at the end of the race in Nevada vanish.

A bolt from the blue that sparked much discussion. At this point, with two GPs still to go, it all comes back into play with Max Verstappen now having a decidedly better chance of completing the comeback and taking home what would be his fifth title.

The Dutchman’s chances of winning the race are good.

He bitterly mulls Lando Norris, who will now have to be good at forgetting what happened in Las Vegas and focus exclusively on the upcoming events in Qatar (where the last Sprint of the season will also be run) and Abu Dhabi.
