They are still days of great celebration for Flavio Cobolli, after the victory over Jaume Munar on Sunday in Bologna that gave Italy its fourth overall Davis Cup, its third consecutive. A success that came despite the absences of Jannik Sinner and Lorenzo Musetti, which Cobolli returned to during an interview with Corriere della Sera.

“I was afraid of the figure. Literally – he explained -. But with the blue jersey on, embarrassments are not allowed. It will never happen. In Bologna, I was forced to turn obstacles into an asset. Twice, I overturned very negative situations. In this yes, I amazed even myself”.

After the triumph in Davis, Cobolli is ready for the ultimate turning point: “I am maturing in stages, without hurry and without tears, as I like it. My idea of where I would like to be is clear, in the top 10. I don’t know when, I’m not sure how, but at this point the bar has to be raised. To keep up with Jannik and the top players, I am called upon to fill my weaknesses. My career so far has advanced in small steps”

A class of 2002, born in Florence but raised in Subiaco, in the Rome metropolitan area, Flavio Cobolli won not only the 2025 Davis Cup but also silver at the Hopman Cup, a competition for mixed national teams, a few months earlier in Bari. Individually, however, he boasts two titles, also won this year in Bucharest and Hamburg. At the Slam level, his best result is the quarterfinal reached at Wimbledon, again in a 2025 dream for him.
