F1, Aston Martin revolution: Adrian Newey new team principal

Revolution at Aston Martin. The British racing stable has chosen to promote Adrian Newey who will be the new team principal starting in 2026. The designer will replace Andy Cowell who, instead, will assume the role of Chief Strategy Officer. This was announced by Aston Martin itself in an official statement.
“After implementing the necessary structural changes in our transition to a true factory team and laying the groundwork for Adrian and the entire organization, now is the right time to take on a new role as Chief Strategy Officer – Cowell said.
In this position I will help optimize the technical partnership between the team, Honda, Aramco and Valvoline and ensure the full integration of the new power unit, fuel and chassis”.
“Over the past nine months, I have seen great talent within our team– Newey’s words -I am excited to take on this additional role as we prepare as best we can to compete in 2026, a year in which we will face a completely new situation with Aston Martin becoming an official team, coupled with the considerable challenge posed by the new regulations”.
“This change in leadership is a mutual decision, made in the best interest of the Team. I am also pleased that Adrian Newey will assume the role of team principal, which will allow him to take full advantage of his creativity and technical expertise. Both of these changes will ensure that the team is in the best position to make the most of its collective strengths” added President Lawrence Stroll.
