Inter market, clash with Napoli for midfielder

Napoli and Inter Milan are desperately looking for a new midfielder to join the team as early as January. Kevin De Bruyne is in the pits just like André-Frank Anguissa and Billy Gilmour has just come out of surgery to solve his pubalgia problem. On the Inter side there&#8217s the big problem Davide Frattesi, who cannot convince Cristian Chivu and would like to make a change in January, also Hakan Calhanoglu is scoring a lot but against AC Milan and Atletico Madrid he made two mistakes that cost Inter dearly: a reinforcement is needed in the middle of the field and Beppe Marotta knows it well. Partenopei and Nerazzurri have Morten Frendrup in their sights.

The Danish midfielder, 15 appearances and 1 goal so far with Genoa, has attracted the attentions of the two clubs thanks to top performances. Inter has been monitoring him for some time but Antonio Conte has also been on his trail and has asked Aurelio De Laurentiis to make an attempt in January to snatch him from the Grifone. It won&#8217t be that easy: the Ligurian club is finding its way again in the league after the arrival of Daniele De Rossi but the situation in the standings remains precarious and the club would not want to deprive itself of its big names this season. So there will be a battle to be had and certainly Morten Frendrup will not be a cheap shot.

Beppe Marotta is also on the lookout for a new defender: at the end of the season the Nerazzurri will most likely say goodbye to Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij, who are now at the end of their experience at Inter, and will therefore have to go back on the market to buy a top defender to hand over to Cristian Chivu. Also among the special observers is Nico Schlotterbeck, who is very doubtful about renewing his contract with Borussia Dortmund. At the moment, the German has an agreement with the yellow and red club until 2027 and is looking around for alternatives to staying at Borussia Dortmund.

The yellow and black club, for its part, has already presented a renewal offer to Nico Schlotterbeck with a substantial salary increase but it seems that it was not enough to convince the defender. Beppe Marotta is monitoring the situation with great interest but clearly Inter is not the only club on the German’s trail: there is also Bayern Munich, which could lose Dayot Upamecano in June. The Frenchman’s contract is expiring and the temptation to move to Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid is strong, as is the temptation to experience Ligue 1 with Paris Saint Germain. Bayern Munich is cautiously optimistic but Schlotterbeck remains in the Bavarian club’s notebook.
