“Hello girls and boys, we have come to the end of this season. It has been a live broadcast in some ways not very easy but beautiful, intense and exciting”. Carlo Vanzini, on his YouTube channel, commented on the’epilogue of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship, opening the link with these words. The Sunday that graduated Lando Norris world champion at the end of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was consumed on the edge of great emotion and even emotion for Italian fans, deeply shaken by the’announcement of the commentator’s illness that arrived Saturday. And even in the studio, during the live broadcast of ‘Sky Sport’, there was no shortage of moments of tremendous emotion.

Marco Enzo VenturiniLetter of apology after rain of insults, everything is happening in Formula 1

When Lando Norris passed Kimi Antonelli, Max Verstappen’s track engineer said the Italian would “let him pass.”
In the aftermath of the race Helmut Marko also rehashed the dose, accusing Antonelli of voluntarily raising his foot.

Toto Wolff didn't take it well: “How stupid do you have to be to say that?”
On social media for Antonelli came a lot of insult messages.
In a cool mind, in Red Bull they have acknowledged the miscommunication on a normal race episode.
A statement of apology has been issued to provide clarity.
"The comments made before and immediately after the end of the Qatar GP are clearly wrong".
"Replays show that Antonelli momentarily lost control of the car, and this allowed Norris to pass him".
"We sincerely regret that all of this has caused online insults to Kimi.”
"Norris with those two extra points is still the favorite for the title.
He will only need a third place even if Verstappen wins.

Without Antonelli's mistake, Norris would have needed second place in case Verstappen won.

The most poignant took place just moments before the end of the live broadcast of ‘Paddock Live Show’ which aired immediately after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. “Guys we are saying goodbye, see you in 2026. And above all, thank you Carlo. Thank you. I want you to keep slaughtering me like you did all season long, you gave me the strength to overcome difficult moments. You are a friend, you are the boss, and you are a truly amazing teacher. Forgive me Carlo, I know you don‘t like ‘these things” said host Davide Camicioli in a choked voice. “That wasn“t the deal, you”re fired,” an emotional Vanzini wanted to joke.

Before that, it was Marc GenĂ©, Vanzini&#8217s longtime colleague in the commentary booth, who introduced the topic. “In our team we have a champion, which is Carlo. Thank you, because you have been a leader. And of course I expect you next year here with me in the commentary booth, already from Australia. We all love you very, very much” said the former Minardi and Williams driver and longtime Ferrari test driver. Ivan Capelli, another longtime voice of Formula 1 on Italian TV, gave the commentator a tribute of applause, Vicky Piria struggled to hold back tears. Finally at ‘Race Anatomy’, a broadcast that concludes the race weekend programming, Fabio Tavelli and Leo Turrini displayed a sign that read: “Gnaro, mola mia” (“boy, don” in Lombard dialect).

On Saturday Carlo Vanzini had chosen the pages of ‘Corriere della Sera’ for a dramatic announcement: a few months ago (and more precisely on June 18), he discovered he had pancreatic cancer. Five years ago, his sister Claudia had died from the very same disease, and now the Sky commentator at 54 has begun his battle: he has already undergone ten chemotherapy sessions and will be eligible for surgery at the end of January. It was precisely a visit carried out by his colleague Camicioli in the summer, in Viareggio, that had allowed him to discover the terrible disease.
