In January, Inter will get rid of some of Cristian Chivu’s roster redundancies, players who have not found their place in the team and are not in the Nerazzurri’s future plans. Among them is Tomas Palacios. The Argentine defender, who arrived in the summer of 2024 for 6.5 million euros, had played on loan at Monza in the second half of last season before returning to Inter in the summer. Palacios never managed to climb Cristian Chivu’s hierarchy and a few days ago he was injured again in training. According to Tuttosport reports, the player, who is undergoing conservative therapy, has reportedly informed the club of his desire to return to Independiente Rivadavia, the club from which he arrived in 2024.

L’Inter would not oppose his permanent transfer, but much will also depend on the condition of the player, who may be forced to undergo surgery to solve his problem. Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri see one of their big market dreams getting complicated: Borussia Dortmund’s Nico Schlotterbeck. The experienced defender has already ordered his entourage to find an alternative solution for next season, and Inter were one of the first clubs to prick up their antennae. However, Barcelona and Real Madrid are also on the German champion’s trail: Beppe Marotta’s dream is likely to fade soon.

Barcelona at the end of the season will say goodbye to Andreas Christensen, whose contract is expiring, and needs a top-level defender. Hansi Flick knows Nico Schlotterbeck very well (the two worked together in the German senior national team) and could move firsthand to convince the Borussia Dortmund player to wear the Blaugrana jersey. Xabi Alonso’s Real Madrid, on the other hand, will say goodbye to David Alaba and Antonio RĂ¼diger, both of whom are at the end of their time at the Blancos, and the club is already moving to identify successors: Nico Schlotterbeck is Florentino Perez’s priority.

L’Inter is also moving on the renewal front and among the first who could extend his contract is Carlos Augusto, who is doing very well under Cristian Chivu’s orders and currently has a contract until 2028.
