Reinforcing the midfield is one of Juventus’ priorities for the upcoming soccer market sessions. Coach Luciano Spalletti has put it down on paper that important grafts are needed in the midfield area to raise the level of the whole team and return to compete for top positions in Serie A and Europe. In the last few hours rumors have returned to approach the Piedmontese club with a player repeatedly in their sights in the past: Leon Goretzka. The German national player, at Bayern Munich since 2018, would represent the ideal reinforcement for his quality, experience and leadership on the pitch.

In recent years, the relationship between Goretzka and Bayern Munich has been one of ups and downs, and at the moment the parties are tense: the midfielder is set to expire his contract next June and is unlikely to find an agreement with the Bavarians for renewal. The Bavarian club wants to rejuvenate the midfield, and above all it wants to lower the wage ceiling: the management seems inclined to let his contract expire in order to let him leave on a zero-parameter basis in the summer, unless Goretzka decides to drastically reduce his salary. Juventus is in the window, ready to seize the’opportunity next January as well.

Goretzka&#8217s possible landing in Italy in the winter session is complicated, however: Bayern Munich would have to find a replacement immediately, and the player would not have asked to leave immediately. Much will depend on the’current size of Juventus&#8217s offer, which could anticipate its move to displace other suitors for the German national, ready to swoop on the player next June when he is a free agent. Goretzka has been approached several times over the years by the Bianconeri and has been in contact in the past with the Piedmontese club: his market value is currently estimated at around 10 million euros.

This season Goretzka has made 19 appearances in all competitions and remains an important part of Bayern’s squad, despite disagreements with the management over his renewal. The Bochum-born midfielder is in his eighth season with the Bavarian club, with which he has won 16 titles.
