In Padua, first outside win for Monza

Vero Volley Monza grasps its second consecutive victory, beating Sonepar Padua 3-1 and overtaking it in the standings, 25-22, 18-25, 30-28 25-20 the set partials. A very important success, the first of the season away from the friendly parquet, which restores momentum to the Brianzoli’s ambitions.
Coach Massimo Eccheli’s team churned out an authoritative performance, on a difficult court, dragged by an unstoppable Padar, elected mvp of the match. The Vero Volleyball opposite was the best scorer of his team with 32 points and 71% in attack. Better than him does only his peer opponent, Masulovic, who puts 33 balls on the ground but fails to give his team the victory.
Monza proves to be solid in attack but even more so in wall: there are 14 winning ones, ten more than the Venetians. The third set is the decisive one for the fate of the match: after winning the first partial and suffering Sonepar’s reaction in the second, Monza makes the third fraction its own in a fiery finale.
For Padua it was a knockout blow: in fact, the fourth set was a triumphant march for Vero Volleyball toward winning the three points. Beretta and his teammates are now expected to play the last round of the first half of the season on Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Opiquad Arena in Monza against Yuasa Battery Grottazzolina. At stake for Monza is eighth place in the standings, which would give it qualification for the Italian Cup quarterfinals.
“The match was very intense, as the partials also show. Padua at home is a tough team, capable of giving everyone a hard time. We started very well and we were good to come out on top in the third set after losing the second one – said Jacopo Larizza, Vero Volley Monza center -We are very happy, it was important to win and now we will prepare for the match against Grottazzolina. It will be an important match, because in addition to having points at stake for salvation, it could give us the qualification to the Italian Cup Quarterfinals. We want to be there, for our fans and for the club, we will do our best to succeed”.
