LIverpool, Mohamed Salah not summoned for Inter Milan

Mohamed Salah is not among the 19 players summoned by Liverpool for tomorrow&#8217s Champions League match at home to Inter Milan. The Egyptian, two days ago, had expressed his disappointment with strong words in front of reporters after the draw in Leeds (3-3), in which coach Arne Slot had relegated him to the bench for the third consecutive time. Punishment came right on time, with his nonconvocation for the match valid for the sixth day of “league” of the continent&#8221s most prestigious club trophy. Nerazzurri coach Cristian Chivu had dribbled out the issue of clashes between Salah and the Reds coach.

“I don’t talk about other people’s problems, we also have ours – said Chivu -. We know what Salah represents for world soccer, we know his value and what he has given. We know that there are players ready to replace him, their level will still remain high the same. There’s a team, there&#8217s not just the player. We have to worry about Liverpool as a team, not as a collective. Last year they won the Premier, they started well this year and then had difficulties. But they are built for it, they have individual and collective value and we want to give intensity and do as they do. They have history and culture, they are born that way because of the way soccer is experienced in England”.

Still on Liverpool, Chivu had added: “In words it is all easy, on the board and on screen also. The problem is when you have to bring something on the field that allows you to give force to the words. We all know about Liverpool’s intensity, the quality they have, both individually and collectively. Inter have carried Italy&#8217s flag high around the world for so many years: you don&#8217t reach two Champions League finals and a Europa League final in five years so easily, and it should be extolled. An Italian team playing like this deserves some praise, apart from the final result”.

L’Inter currently occupies the second position in the Champions League standings, paired with PSG, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. Liverpool is 13th with 9 points, but especially in the Premier League the Reds are ninth with as many as six games lost out of 15.
