Australian Alex De Minaur, who ended 2025 at world No. 7 after touching No. 6 at the end of October despite having won only one tournament out of the ten on the major circuit that he has taken home in his career, spoke to Tennis 365 about the rivalry between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, ranked No. 2 and No. 1 respectively, but in particular wanted to praise the’from Alto Adige for his character on the court, his desire to win and improve and also his strength of reaction after the defeat at Roland Garros suffered by Alcaraz after being up two sets and having three match points.

Jannik Sinner is enjoying a period of relaxation before returning to the court.
In 2026 the first big goal will be the Australian Open.
Last year the'South Tyrolean triumphed for the second time in a row.
The'former tennis player Greg Rusedski at Tennis365 is however back on what happened a year ago.
“In 2025, the biggest disappointment for Djokovic was at the Australian Open when he beat Alcaraz and then retired due to injury".
"If he makes it to the finals against Sinner it’s a dry match and anything can happen".
"Now it’s different and you also need some' luck to win a Slam".
"Beating Alcaraz and Sinner one after another seems very tough to me, but never cut a champion outright.”
"I don’t know if he will be able to beat Alcaraz and Sinner three sets out of five".
"Maybe he has some chance in Wimbledon but if he still likes to play tennis why not try and play again?".
"You know it’s time to retire when you’re not having fun anymore and now Nole is still the third best tennis player in the world, even if the ranking says different things.”
Djokovic said he wants to continue until the 2028 Olympics.

“One of Jannik’s greatest virtues is his level, which never fluctuates from day to day. That’s one of the most impressive things, both tennis-wise and mentally. He has been through a lot this year, but he has not been affected mentally. At Roland Garros she was up two sets to one, had match point and lost. It was an incredible match and then he was able to repeat it at Wimbledon. It’s incredible to be able to overcome a disappointment like that and play the way he did to win Wimbledon. It’s almost as if the difficult moments didn’t affect him. They bounce off him, they stay out in the next week, and that’s admirable.”

“To beat Sinner and Alcaraz you have to play great tennis from the first point to the last point, that’s my goal. They are at the top of our game, they have dominated the last two years and the goal is to keep improving and make life difficult for them. It’s not easy at all, but at the end of the day we don’t want the same two players to win all the major tournaments. As competitors, we don&#8217t like to lose and we have to try our best to compete with them,” concluded the Australian, who against the two tennis kings has never won a match: the record with Sinner is 0-13, with Alcaraz 0-5.

Alex De Minaur, 26, born in Sydney, is one of the most consistent tennis players on the circuit but has never won either a Masters 1000 or a Slam: in all four majors he has reached the quarterfinals but has never gone further.
