While working to identify the right striker to reinforce Massimiliano Allegri’s Milan, Igli Tare and Giorgio Furlani are also focusing on contract renewal negotiations. Mike Maignan&#8217s situation is clear: months ago the champion’s entourage and Furlani met but no agreement was reached due to the player&#8217s demands, which were deemed excessively high by Milan executives. Since then there have been no developments and everything is at a standstill, unlike on the Christian Pulisic front, who is currently linked to AC Milan with a deal valid until 2027.

The Rossoneri management wants to accelerate in the coming weeks to armor Captain America until 2030, resulting in a salary increase from 4 to 5 million euros. The U.S. star has ended up in the sights of some Premier League bigwigs and Tare wants to get him to sign the new contract as soon as possible: the striker is fine in Milan and feels important, there should be no problems on the renewal. This season Pulisic is shining under Massimiliano Allegri: he is top scorer in Serie A with 7 goals, on par with Inter captain Lautaro Martínez. In Milan’s last game, Pulisic&#8217s entrance on the pitch was instrumental in allowing the Diavolo to overturn and win the challenge against Torino.

Brought up in the youth ranks of Borussia Dortmund, Christian Pulisic was promoted to the Yellow and Black first team in 2016. With the German club he showcased all his qualities, even winning a German Cup in the 2016-2017 season, then Chelsea bought him by shelling out 64 million euros. With the Blues, unfortunately, Pulisic had numerous injuries and his English experience was not very lucky. In 2023, Milan decided to bet on him and signed him for almost 21 million euros. The rossoneri’s investment has turned out to be spot on: so far with the Diavolo the tally is 112 games, 41 goals and 25 assists. Numbers that are impressive especially when compared to his previous experiences: between Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund he played 272 games scoring 45 goals, slightly less than those scored with Milan in less than half of the appearances.

Pulisic’s super performance is greatly helping AC Milan, which is first in the standings thanks in part to the American’s goals. Paolo Scaroni, Milan’s president, took stock of the Rossoneri’s season at the microphones of Class CNBC: “After winning a suffered game like the one against Torino, I look ahead and I am optimistic, full of hope. One key fact remains, which I repeat and which Allegri also repeats: we have one goal, to be in the Champions League next year. Milan must always be in the Champions League. We are a world team, we have 400 million fans in the world, we have to be in the stage of world soccer that is the Champions League.”
