NBA Cup: Orlando and New York snatch semifinal pass

Orlando and New York have qualified for the NBA Cup semifinals. The two franchises will play for a pass to the finals on Saturday night and Sunday night at Madison Square Garden. It is worth mentioning that, on the other side, the challenges in the West, namely OKC vs. Phoenix and LA Lakers vs. San Antonio, are scheduled tonight.

Great show of strength by Orlando, which, in the Florida derby, knocks off Miami: 117-108 the final. The Heat manage to escape even to +16 but the Magic come back with great determination, riding on Bane’s excellent performance that ends with an impressive 37 points on the scoreboard. Also important was the contribution of Suggs (20 points) and Banchero (18). On the other side, Powell&#8217s 21 points and Herro&#8217s 20 were not enough. For the first time this season, Fontecchio ran out of gas: 0/5 shooting in the 8′ that he remained on the court.

New York also partied as it folded, on the road, Toronto: 117-101 the final. For a change, the Knicks’hero of the victory answers to the name of Brunson. The Knicks’all-star was instrumental with 35 total points. Alongside him, the’excellent Hart (21 points). At home Raptors, Ingram (31 points) tried until the end but it was not enough to avoid defeat. “We are beginning to understand who we are”, the words of Knicks coach Mike Brown reported by ESPN. “At the’beginning of the season, we had a lot of injuries during the preseason, so I didn&#8217t have a good team feeling, or at least not the feeling I wanted to see, and that&#8217s one of the reasons why we struggled, especially on the road”.

It should be mentioned that the’NBA Cup is a tournament, knockout, introduced by the’NBA in 2023. It is played during the NBA regular season. To date, the first two editions, have been won by the LA Lakers, champions in 2023, and Milwuakee, champions last season (beaten in the finals the Gilgeous-Alexander Thunder).
