Rumors of a possible January divorce between Paulo Dybala and Roma are growing. Coach Gian Piero Gasperini&#8217s recent exclusions of the Argentine striker due to an up-and-down start to the season have set off alarm bells within the Giallorossi fans. Gasperini opted to leave him on the bench in the last two league games against Napoli and Cagliari, both of which he lost 1-0, throwing Baldanzi in as a starting “false nueve” in the away match at the Unipol Domus. In both games, he then entered the field shortly after the quarter d’hour of the second half.

Dybala, moreover back from a muscular problem, in both cases failed to change the’inertia of the two games and confirming problems in adapting to the style of play of the’former Atalanta coach, with only one goal and one assist put on the score sheet since the beginning of the season between Serie A and Europa League. In this league he has made ten appearances so far, starting only five times, being substituted on four occasions, the only goal, a decisive one, he netted on 16′ of the first half against Sassuolo. All five times he came in from the bench, however, he did not bring his usual goal contribution in the past.

Answering the rumors of those who feared, or even saw, or fear and still see, an imminent farewell to the Capital, already in the January market, was Dybala himself with an eloquent post on his Instagram profile. The Joya posted a photo in training with a short but clear description: “& @officiaasroma” meaning that he put his account name alongside that of the Capitoline club with an &, making it clear that Dybala and Roma will continue to be together. At least until June 30, when his contract expires. Just another way to shut down any market rumors and focus only on the field.

Paulo Dybala, 32, has been playing in Italy continuously since 2012. His first three seasons were spent at Palermo, two in Serie A interspersed with one in Serie B. From 2015 to 2022 he played for Juventus, with whom he won five Scudetti (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020), four Italian Cups (2016 2017 2018 and 2021) and three Italian Super Cups (2015, 2018 and 2020). This is his fourth season at Roma. In the top flight he has totaled 358 games and 130 goals so far. With the Argentine national team, he was world champion in 2022 and won the CONMEBOL-UEFA Champions Cup the same year.
