Inter awaiting the challenge against Genoa scheduled for Sunday afternoon at Marassi, and especially intent on putting the Champions League knockout against Liverpool behind them. Speaking about this in the press conference is Cristian Chivu, who on the one hand defends his players but on the other identifies the aspects on which they can still improve. However, the team’s goals remain intact, as indeed the rankings in both Serie A and the Champions League show. Few formation indications for the Liguria trip, other than the obvious ones: “We have to cope with the problems of Acerbi and Calhanoglu. With Di Gennaro, Darmian and Dumfries, the unavailable are them.”

“We are all aware of the work we are doing at Inter. So in the last few days I have been living serenely,” Chivu assured.

“We have to take the field always giving everything, and sometimes we need something more. We are experiencing a season of ups and downs, but the confidence is always there and the level performances as well. Despite everything, we are having a great season. Against Genoa, however, we will need a perfect game on our part, with a positive attitude, desire and approach. We must have awareness in our means, but also the humility to learn from those who are better or more experienced than us.”

Not missing a reference to Daniele De Rossi, now Genoa coach but whom Chivu has known very well for years. “We lived wonderful years in Rome, and towards him I have great esteem,” said the Inter coach. “I can only speak well of him, a real man, loyal and honest. On the field he was a captain even years before he wore the armband. And from the tactical point of view I can also learn something from him, it is always useful to try to steal some aspects from good colleagues. However, I ask a lot of things from the team, but over time the boys have always shown me their great desire to do.”

There is no shortage of barbs against his Inter detractors. “There has always been a magnifying glass pointing at us,” Chivu complained.

They used to give us away as failures, but we are always there. Then the group put its face on it, and this is an important aspect and above all not taken for granted.”

“Against Udinese we missed the first half, in Naples the second. This Inter, however, is always there, and plays with its principles. We are in December, we know we can grow a lot and we have the hunger we need to excel in both Serie A and Europe,” is Chivu’s promise to the fans.
