In response to rumors of a takeover bid received at Juventus in recent hours, John Elkann, chief executive officer of Exor (the holding company that owns the Juventus club), has made it categorically clear that he has no intention of selling the club. “Juve has been part of my family for 102 years– explained Elkann, one of the grandsons of Edoardo Agnelli, the first representative of the Piedmontese business family that bought Juventus in 1923. “It is part in the true sense of the word, because over the course of a century four generations have enlarged it, made it strong, cared for it in difficult times and celebrated it in the many happy moments”.

“Juve is part of a much, much larger family: the Juventus family, made up of millions of fans in Italy and around the world, who love Juve as one loves loved ones – added John Elkann, who wore a Juventus sweatshirt in the video message posted on the club’s official channels on Saturday -. Just thinking about this passion, this history of love that has united us for more than a century, as a family we continue to support our team and look to the future to build a winning Juve. Juventus, our history, our values, are not for sale”.

Luciano Spalletti, Juventus coach, also wanted to speak out on the issue: “I have only recently arrived here at Juve– he said during the press conference presenting the Bianconeri’s away match in Bologna, scheduled for Sunday at 8:45 p.m. -, but I can speak on behalf of the whole team: it gives us great pleasure to feel the strength and passion of John Elkann and the entire Angelli family for this club. Today’s message is also an invitation to us to give form and substance to this passion, honoring the past of this club and building a future not only of the same level but even better. Elkann himself had told us this when he came to visit us”.

Juventus is fresh from a 2-0 Champions League victory over Pafos on Wednesday night, which came thanks to goals by McKennie and David in the second half: a success that allows the Bianconeri to look forward to the last two League Phase matches with optimism, while also dreaming of the comeback useful to reach the top eight and skip the playoff d’access to the round of 16.

The path in the league, on the other hand, is more bumpy this year: the Bianconeri, on the previous day, lost 2-1 at home to Napoli and in the standings, after fourteen days, they are in seventh place, virtually out of the Europe zone. The Old Lady will close out 2025 by facing in the league first Bologna away, then Roma at home and Pisa at the Anconetani-Arena Garibaldi.
