Farewell to Ido Sgrazzutti, played with Palermo and Udinese

Italian soccer bids an emotional farewell to Ido Sgrazzutti. The iconic former Udinese and Palermo defender, born in 1947 in Flumignano di Talmassons, died today in Udine at the age of 78, leaving an important legacy on the regional and national football scene.
With the HCL jersey, Sgrazzutti collected 173 appearances, establishing himself as a key element of the team in the Serie C years between 1966 and 1968 and then again from 1973 to 1976, a period in which he also served as captain.
Between the two experiences in Udine came the most significant moment of his career: in 1968 the transfer to Palermo. In Rosanero he was the protagonist of a historic phase for the Sicilian club, playing Serie A and Serie B championships and making a concrete contribution to promotion to the top category in the early 1970s.
The club’s most significant moment came in 1968, when he was also captain.
A fond memory also comes from Pozzuolo del Friuli, where Sgrazzutti ended his career as a player and continued as a youth coach, devoting himself to their sporting and human growth.
At the end of his competitive career, Ido chose a simple life far from the limelight, working as a letter carrier and remaining deeply attached to his territory. A choice that fully reflected his way of being: unobtrusive, measured and genuine.
