The future of Mike Maignan is always at the center of market rumors due to the expiration of the French goalkeeper’s contract, which could be released in June on a zero-parameter basis. The transalpine defender’s agents have been in talks with club emissaries for some time in search of an agreement: the Diavolo is also willing to make sacrifices in order to confirm the player, who is proving to be crucial this season as well. At DAZN’s microphones, sporting director Igli Tare revealed that the feelings are very good: “I never talked about numbers, but talking about Mike is easy. We are happy with him, he likes being at Milan and we like having him”.

The Rossoneri management is working relentlessly to identify the right profile to replace the Frenchman

Tare&#8217s words confirm the effort that Milan is putting in place to armor the player and prevent him from making a deal with another team in January to free himself for free in the summer. The Milanese club would be ready to offer a multi-year contract worth 5 million euros a season plus bonuses, with a salary almost doubled compared to the current salary received by the French national. From abroad several top clubs are pressing, even proposing higher salaries than the one offered by Milan, but the Rossoneri club is banking on the player&#8217s willingness to stay in Milan at least for another season.

Accordingly, however, Milan has taken precautions and in case of Maignan’s farewell has identified 4 names: Zion Suzuki, Noah Atubolu, Elia Caprile and Illan Meslier. The Japanese goalkeeper is making a name for himself with the Parma jersey, has great reflexes and could move for a reasonable price, very similar to what Freiburg might ask for Noah Atubolu (who is also liked by Inter Milan as Yann Sommer&#8217s heir). The situation is different for Elia Caprile, who is showing impressive reliability with Cagliari. The eyes of several big names have settled on the Verona-born goalkeeper and an auction could be triggered in the summer soccer session.

Illan Meslier has an expiring contract with Leeds and could leave England for free to experience a new league. Still on the market, Tare had this to say about the possible arrival of a striker: “In January it is difficult to find players who can change something, but we will be careful”.

“If we see a way forward we will do it, today is a good opportunity for Nkunku to show what he can do. We are also waiting for Gimenez, he is an important player for this team. We started with a great group, every day we realize how it is one of the best we have ever had. We know we still have a lot of work to do but we are all very happy”.
