Serie A market, Mario Rui gives a hint about his own future

December 30, 2024, the date of the termination of his contract with Napoli, Mario Rui has announced that he is ready to return to the game and, according to the Portuguese player himself, Italy is a likely destination as early as January. Speaking to the microphones of Radio 1 Rai, the 1991-class outside player explained his situation.

“I have always trained and never stopped: I am well and ready to start again – said Mario Rui -. In January I will start again, there are interesting solutions that convince me and my family. I will be ready right away to start again, with the goal of resuming my path as a professional footballer”.

“I made my choice last year because I was looking for a different experience, I turned down several opportunities in Italy. At the moment there are still two or three hypotheses to be evaluated, but nothing is decided. I would say there is a 40-50 percent chance of returning to Serie A: I will talk about it with my agent and my family before making a final decision”.

Grew up in Sporting Lisbon before completing the youth ranks between Valencia and Benfica, Mario Rui has worn the jerseys of Fatima, Gubbio, Spezia, Empoli, Roma and Napoli as a professional. With the blue club he played seven seasons, winning a Scudetto and a Coppa Italia. Last year he had started his eighth season in Naples, but still without appearances in December he had decided, by mutual agreement with the club, to terminate his professional relationship.
