'Dreaming of Milan Cortina 2026. On the shoulders of the Giants': Allianz docuseries kicks off on Rai

The airing of “Sognando Milano Cortina 2026. On the Shoulders of Giants,” the docuseries conceived by Allianz, produced in partnership with Dentsu Sport, Yam 112003 and in collaboration with Rai. It stars six extraordinary Italian athletes and parathletes, Allianz Ambassadors in Italy for the upcoming Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Milan Cortina 2026, alongside unforgettable Italian legends who have made Italy’s winter sports great.

The six episodes of the docuseries will be aired every Saturday on Rai 2 and streamed on RaiPlay beginning Saturday, Dec. 20, and running through Jan. 24, and then replayed on Rai Sport in late evening from Sunday to Friday.

This partnership strengthens the one already existing with the Olympic and Paralympic Movements internationally and in our country. In fact, the Allianz Group initiated the Global Partnership with the International Olympic and Paralympic Movements in 2021 until Brisbane 2032, and has been a partner of the International Paralympic Movement since 2006.

In this international framework, in Italy Allianz already has to its credit important partnerships with CONI and the Italian Paralympic Committee (CIP) alongside the Italy Team and since 2022 has been a Top Partner of the State Police Sports Group Fiamme Oro, from which three of the six Ambassador athletes who will form the virtual Allianz team have been chosen.

The Allianz Tower in Milan will host the Milan Cortina 2026 Foundation from 2020 and will also be the Milan headquarters of the CIP Italian Paralympic House for the 2026 Games, marking the 20th anniversary of the global partnership between the Allianz Group and the International Paralympic Committee. As Allianz Italia is also the Presenting Partner of the journey of the Paralympic Flame, the torch was displayed at the event organized in the Allianz Tower by CIP and RAI to present the roadmap towards the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games in Milan Cortina.

Turning to the TV docuseries “Sognando Milano Cortina 2026. On the Shoulders of the Giants,” which was previewed to Allianz employees with director Tommaso Deboni and author Chiara Parodi, Giacomo Campora, CEO of Allianz S.p.A. emphasized, ” The new TV production reveals the stories of six great Italian athletes who are preparing for the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, supported by six giants who have made the history of Italian Sport.”

Sara Conti, Nicolò Macii, Nikolaj Memola, Giuseppe Romele, Martina Valcepina, and Martina Vozza are the six protagonists chosen to create the new Allianz virtual team: a balanced group from different sports disciplines, in terms of age, recognition, and inclusion criteria, as well as affinity with some of the sports values in which Allianz recognizes itself, such as positive spirit and the ability to go beyond obstacles. Accompanying them on their journey to Milan Cortina 2026 are six unforgettable blue legends who have made the history of Italian Sport: Paolo De Chiesa, Barbara Fusar Poli, Kristian Ghedina, Maurizio Margaglio, Francesca Porcellato, and Cristian Zorzi.

The docuseries project “Sognando Milano Cortina 2026. On the Shoulders of Giants” intercepts Rai’s cross-media potential within the Olympic bid, and includes six 25-minute episodes. Interwoven in the six episodes are the stories of the athletes and legends, each telling the lives of the protagonists, from athletic gestures that convey their strength and determination to moments of intense competition, but also more personal images that tell the human side of the athletes. Stock images are interwoven with the present, creating continuity and depth.

The episodes on Rai 2, from Dec. 20 to Jan. 24, will air at about 7 p.m. On Rai Sport they will be replayed from Sunday to the following Friday in late evening, and on RaiPlay they will stream from the first on-air. To conclude, there will also be a 45-minute documentary that will collect the most beautiful and significant portraits of the young athletes and will be aired on Rai 2 on January 31 at about 7 p.m., repeated from the next day on Rai Sport.

The first protagonists to open the docuseries are Sara Conti and Niccolò Macii with legend Maurizio Margaglio on December 20 on Rai 2 at 7 pm.00 and their episode is titled “Talking to each other without words.” followed by “From water to snow A/R” with Giuseppe Romele and legend Cristian Zorzi, “The veterans” with Martina Valcepina and legend Francesca Porcellato, “Questione di adrenalina” with Martina Vozza and legend Kristian Ghedina, “Growing together” with Nicolaj Memola and legend Barbara Fusar Poli, and finally a special episode on “Team G,” a team of young promising Paralympic alpine skiers, and Paolo De Chiesa.

The project conceived by Allianz was realized with Dentsu Sports, Dentsu’s solution dedicated to sports marketing that integrates creativity, media and CXM, as much as the relationship with the athletes and with the support of YAM 112003 for the creation of the docuseries, clips and the concluding documentary. Rai’s multiplatform airing will be achieved through a partnership with Rai and Rai Pubblicità. Social content was designed by Ogilvy agency, and media planning on social channels will be carried out with GroupM. The docuseries is accompanied by a major social media campaign created by Allianz. In anticipation of the official launch of the docuseries, a total of 20 1-minute pills have been posted on social media, the Allianz website and RaiPlay.
