Fiorentina market, a big name may leave: there's Genoa at the window

Florentin is going through one of the most difficult phases in recent years, with the last place in Serie A after fifteen days and the fear, in the purple house, that the centenary season may be experienced in a context other than the top series. The January market will be a key stage to figure out how to rise again in the second half of the season, not only in terms of possible graft but also for possible exits: in this sense fits the hypothesis of a farewell by Edin Dzeko, who arrived last summer on a zero-parameter basis after a parenthesis at Fenerbahce, who could prematurely terminate the one-year contract that binds him to the Viola.

According to reports in Tuttosport, in fact, the Bosnian is reportedly considering with his entourage the possibility of leaving Fiorentina, which he joined only a few months ago with major ambitions. The 1986-class striker has scored only twice in the Conference League, against Polissya in the preliminaries and Rapid in the single round, while scoring twice as many goals, four, with the Bosnian national team since September. The player’s situation is being monitored by several international clubs but also, in Italy, by Genoa. In fact, Daniele De Rossi, in charge of the Grifone, has reportedly expressed interest in the center forward, with whom he shared four seasons as a player at Roma.

The first contacts with Fiorentina have reportedly already been initiated, but the economic issue is the main obstacle. The most credited hypothesis is that of a loan until the end of June, with an option for renewal (already provided for the current contract that binds Dzeko to Fiorentina) based on performance. The negotiation, however, requires in-depth evaluations both by the violet club, which will have to decide whether to deprive itself of an element that arrived only a few months ago, and by the player, who is called to choose whether to accept a new challenge while remaining to fight for salvation, a very different situation for him compared to his years at Manchester City, Roma, Inter and Fenerbahce.

Dezko, by the way, is not the’only striker who could leave: in fact, it was just a few days ago that Albert Gudmundsson, who was bought back from Fiorentina just in the summer for about 15 million euros, was reported to be asking to leave. The Icelandic is among the most targeted by the Fiorentina fans and Roma is monitoring the situation with great interest.

While waiting to see how the situation will develop, Fiorentina must still try to end 2025 in the best possible way, avoiding losing more points from the fourth-last place: after the external commitment in the conference league against Lausanne, scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 18, the Viola will try to climb again in the league matches against Udinese, Sunday at the Franchi, and against Parma, Saturday, Dec. 27, at the Tardini.
