At the microphones of ‘Radioestadio Noche’ Toni Nadal did not hide his astonishment: “Of course I was surprised, especially after such a positive season. The logical thing was to continue. I am surprised because Alcaraz ends the year as number 1 in the world and this happens. I understand that the decision is Carlos&#8221s because Ferrero said he wants to continue, and so I guess the decision is not tennis-related at all” is Toni Nadal&#8221s supposition. Ferrero is leaving after 24 titles, 280 wins and $49 million in prize money won with Carlos.

“Relationships in the tennis world are difficult because the payer, that is, the player, usually pays to hear what he wants to hear – is Alcaraz’s lunge -. My relationship with Rafa? It was easy for me to tell my player things he did not like to hear because he was different, he was my nephew, it was a different relationship. I believe that at the tennis level Carlos must be very satisfied with the work done by Ferrero all this time” reiterated Toni Nadal. Alcaraz and Ferrero began their collaboration when the Murcia champion was 15 years old.

“I would have liked Ferrero to have continued with Carlos because I think he was doing a great job. It would have been nice to see them together their whole career because I think they would have done very well in the future” too. But Toni Nadal does not believe there will be future consequences for Carlos Alcaraz”s career.

“I don’t think this will affect Carlos Alcaraz because he is a very good tennis player”. The Murcia tennis player will be coached by Samuel Lopez until the’Australian Open, but he has not yet named a new head coach. After the tournament in Australia he could make a final decision on his new coach.
