Milan market, fans push for big comeback

After an excellent start to the season, AC Milan has certainly not shined in recent outings: in early December it dropped out of the Coppa Italia after the defeat against Lazio, then the Rossoneri won in extremis against Torino, drew against Sassuolo at home and on Thursday were torpedoed from the Italian Super Cup after the 2-0 knockout against Antonio Conte’s Napoli. An obvious downturn that is worrying, and not a little either, Diavolo fans. In recent matches, Massimiliano Allegri’s defense has visibly struggled.

Most of all, unconvincing has been Koni De Winter, who against Napoli bears responsibility for both goals conceded. More generally, the’former Genoa center back does not give too much security and is too often light in marking. To patch up the defense, the Diavolo is considering bringing Thiago Silva back to Milan. The experienced Brazilian defender is free after his experience at Fluminense and has never hidden his desire to return to the Rossoneri jersey, perhaps precisely with Massimiliano Allegri on the bench.

Thiago Silva would bring a great deal of experience that would certainly be useful to shore up a department that is struggling a lot. Given that Milan does not have large resources to invest, the possibility of signing the Brazilian defender at no cost makes the hypothesis of the big return even more likely. While waiting for a decision from the club, Rossoneri fans have already expressed themselves through social media: the vast majority of users approve of Thiago Silva’s signing despite the fact that he turned 41 in September. Massimiliano Allegri is also pushing for Thiago Silva’s return: the two speak often and there is great mutual esteem.

While waiting for a defensive reinforcement, Milan is finalizing the paperwork to welcome Niclas Füllkrug: the German center forward will arrive on loan from Aston Villa with a right of redemption set at around 15 million euros. Füllkrug will have to help the Rossoneri team solve the rebus of the attack given the poor performance of Santiago Gimenez and Christopher Nkunku.

Although he has shown some signs of growth in recent outings, the former Chelsea Frenchman remains in the Rossoneri fans’ sights. The data are not on the player’s side (just 1 goal scored so far with Milan) but it must be said that he arrived in Milan in the last days of August and at Chelsea he did not play often: he is certainly not in the best physical condition.
