Inter market, Beppe Marotta dreams of super champion for the'summer

For several weeks, Inter has been working to identify the ideal heir to Yann Sommer, whose contract is expiring and who will most likely leave Milan at the end of the season. Despite the encouraging performances of Josep MartÃnez, Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio have decided that they will buy a great goalkeeper in the summer and the young Spaniard will also serve as a reserve for next season. Among the various names sounded out by the Inter management was recently added that of Diogo Costa.
The very strong Portuguese goalkeeper has a contract that binds him to Porto until 2027 and seems to be wavering on renewal: there has been some contact between his entourage and the club leadership but the white smoke has not yet arrived. Inter is monitoring very closely and, if Diogo Costa does not sign by the summer, they could try to make a lunge. The Portuguese is among the world’s best in his role and the Nerazzurri are well aware of this: an opportunity like this does not happen often and one should at least give it a try.
Nin 1999, Diogo Costa grew up in Porto and in recent years has established himself as a leader and captain of the team: his performances have allowed him to undermine Rui Patricio and from 2021 he will play as a starter in the Portuguese senior national team. The Portuguese champion is, on a par with Borussia Dortmund’s Gregor Kobel, the second most valuable goalkeeper in the world (40 million euros according to Transfermarkt) behind only Gianluigi Donnarumma, who has been defending Manchester City’s goal since this summer and has an estimated value of 45 million euros.
In the coming months Cristian Chivu’s defense could change a lot: in January Stefan de Vrij could leave Milan to move and play more continuously. The former Lazio center back wants to convince Ronald Koeman to bet on him for the upcoming World Cup but it is very difficult to do so at Inter with the current hierarchies.
The de Vrij is likely to be a player who will be able to play in the future.
In the summer in all likelihood he will also say goodbye to Francesco Acerbi, at the end of his experience in Milan. The experienced central will probably be replaced by Mario Gila, who Cristian Chivu likes very much and is linked to Lazio with a contract until 2027: if he does not sign the renewal by this summer, he could leave Rome at a bargain price.
