Inter market, for the post-Sommer there are two solutions: a decision has to be made

At the end of the current season, Sommer&#8217s contract with Inter will expire. After three years in the Nerazzurri, the 1988-born Swiss goalkeeper will say goodbye to Milan. The Nerazzurri club, for some time, has been reasoning about who to target as the starting goalkeeper for next season. It is not easy to replace Sommer who, beyond some problems in the last period, has almost always guaranteed a decidedly high level of performance, confirming that he has the stuff to play in a big club like the Nerazzurri.

Two possible solutions would be on the plate. The first one is “internal” and leads to Martinez. The’former Genoa extreme defender, paid as much as 15 million euros by Inter, has always responded great whenever he has been called upon. Lately he has also offered important performances, so much so that there are those who believe he should be Sommer&#8217s heir. The 27-year-old Spanish goalkeeper seems mature enough to take on this great responsibility and thus become Inter’s new No. 1.

The second solution leads, however, to a big dream, namely Svilar. The Roma goalkeeper, numbers in hand, is one of the best around. With the Giallorossi jersey, he has proved to be a real phenomenon and Inter would be trying to understand whether or not there are conditions to try to snatch him from the Giallorossi, perhaps by including in the deal some technical quid pro quo that Gasperini likes. A negotiation that is anything but simple, also because Svilar is much loved and esteemed in the capital. Among other things, he has a guaranteed contract with Roma until 2030.

There would then be other options on the table that, at the moment, do not seem to convince much. There has been a lot of talk about Vicario, number one at Tottenham, but the Italian does not seem to ignite the enthusiasm of the Nerazzurri people. There would also be Atubolu and Caprile who, however, seem more like gambles.

In short, Inter is at a crossroads: either it decides to really bet on Martinez, whom it already has at home, or it tries to invest a significant sum to wrest Svilar from Roma. What is certain is that, next year, the Swiss Sommer will no longer be the Nerazzurri club’s starting goalkeeper. A decision will have to be made soon.
