Inter market, possible double blow from'Atalanta

Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio are working relentlessly to shore up Cristian Chivu’s lineup: a central defender will arrive in the winter market session if Stefan de Vrij leaves, but the real revolution will happen in the summer. The Nerazzurri need reinforcements in defense and, above all, in midfield and the management is evaluating several profiles. The Nerazzurri club’s line is clear: absolute priority to young players with great potential for growth, then clearly any other opportunities will be evaluated.
Among the profiles that Inter likes the most is Marco Palestra, a defender class of 2005 owned by Atalanta who is playing this year on loan at Cagliari. The young full-back is showing off his skills with the islanders’ jersey thanks to top-notch performances, and Rossoblù sporting director Guido Angelozzi has anointed him ‘Europe’s best side at the moment’. Clearly the’label is a bit of a gamble but Palestra’s performance is still top notch.
At least 30 million euros will be needed to sign the young full-back and Atalanta is not willing to sell him in January: it will wait until the summer when the champion’s valuation could be even higher. Marco Palestra is not the’only Atalanta player to be in Inter’s sights: there’s also Ederson, who is wavering about his contract renewal currently expiring in 2027. If he does not sign by this summer, the Percassi family will put him on the market to avoid the risk of losing him for free in 2027.
Making room for him in Cristian Chivu’s midfield could be Davide Frattesi, who is unhappy with the scant minutes he is receiving. The’former Sassuolo player is determined to make a change in the air to consecrate himself definitively and has several admirers in Italy and beyond: Roma and Juventus would be happy to sign him and there are also English sirens.
Luciano Spalletti has already talked about Frattesi with his management but bringing him to Turin will be anything but simple: Marotta would prefer to sell him abroad so as not to reinforce the competition and the Nerazzurri have asked for Khéphren Thuram’s card in exchange, a proposal already rejected by the Old Lady.
