Farewell to German soccer player Sebastian Hertner: he was only 34 years old

Sports in mourning for the untimely death of Sebastian Hertner, who occurred at the age of only 34 under dframmatic circumstances. A central defender, he grew up in the youth ranks of Gerlingen and Stuttgart. He played in the German Under-18 and Under-19 youth national teams. During his career, he wore the jersey of Munich 1860, l’Erzgebirge Aue and Darmstadt. In recent times, he was also captain of the ETSV Hamburg, in the Oberliga (German fifth division).

As reported by the Bild, Sebastian Hertner fell from a height of as much as 70 meters from a chairlift in the Savin Kuk ski resort in Montenegro. The tragic fall occurred before the eyes of his wife, who suffered a fractured leg during the tragic accident but was rescued.

His last club, ETSV Hamburg, expressed condolences through a post via Instagram: “It is with great sadness that we announce today the death of our captain Sebastian Hertner in a tragic accident while on vacation. We are shocked and deeply saddened. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and loved ones. Rest in peace, Sebastian”.
