Roma market, everything changes in attack: two signings and three disposals
You only have to look at the standings to see that Roma urgently needs to revolutionize its offensive department: in the first 16 games the Giallorossi have scored 17 goals, half that of the leading Inter (which has one game less). To find a team that has scored the same goals as the Capitolini one has to go down to 13th place, occupied by Marco Baroni’s Torino. Despite the sterility of the Giallorossi’s center-forwards, Gasperini’s team occupies the top positions in the standings but needs graft to keep fighting.
Frederic Massara has been working for some time to satisfy Gian Piero Gasperini’s demands and it seems that his efforts are paying off. Giacomo Raspadori’s purchase from Atletico Madrid is very close: the Giallorossi’s latest offer is 2 million euros for an onerous loan until the end of the season and 17 to exercise the redemption option. In recent weeks the Colchoneros have opened to the transfer of the former Napoli player but the Capitolini had not submitted enough offers to convince Cholo Simeone.
Once Raspadori has been struck, it will be the turn of Joshua Zirkzee, who wants to leave Manchester United at all costs. Ruben Amorim is playing him very little and the’former Bologna player wants more continuity to convince Holland coach Ronald Koeman to bet on him for the upcoming World Cup. Zirkzee has also had offers from other English clubs but wants to return to Italy because he is convinced he can replicate the excellent performances he showed with the Bologna shirt between 2022 and 2024.
To make room for Giacomo Raspadori and Joshua Zirkzee, it is necessary for Frederic Massara to work on the exit front as well. Evan Ferguson is the main candidate to leave the capital: the Irishman has not convinced in either performance or attitude, as Gian Piero Gasperini has repeatedly pointed out. He will return to Brighton and then the English club will consider what to do.
With suitcases in hand also Artem Dovbyk, requested by some Premier League clubs: the Ukrainian has scored very little so far and has not convinced Gasperini. Also bidding farewell to Tommaso Baldanzi, who cannot find a place in the Giallorossi chessboard and could move to Hellas Verona on loan: Paolo Zanetti is waiting for him there, but there is still the salary issue to be defined.
