Cantù basketball sheds light on appeal against Napoli

L’Acqua S.Bernardo Cantù shed light on the appeal, which was declared inadmissible by the Sports Judge, after the challenge against Guerri Napoli, which was suspended almost an hour because of the breakage of one of the two baskets, damaged after a dunk. The peculiar episode occurred in the second quarter of the challenge valid for the 13th day of Serie A Unipol: Cantur’s Grant Basile with a spectacular dunk bent the iron, which was partially detached from the backboard.
“The National Sports Judge, having regard to the referee’s report of game no. 104 played between Napoli and Cantù on Dec. 28, 2025; having regard to the petition against the result of the game pre-announced at the end of the game by Cantù’s team captain Moraschini; noting that the petition, together with the grounds, was not submitted to the Office of the National Sports Judge within the time limits indicated in Article 94 R.G. P.Q.M. declares inadmissible the petition against the result of the match proposed by soc. Cantù [art. 94 RG]” is what is stated in the FIP note.
“Pallacanestro Cantù announces that, at the end of the match played yesterday in Naples, an appeal has been pre-announced in order to deepen the dynamics and timing that led to the suspension of the game – explained in a statement the white and blue club -. After conducting a series of regulatory investigations, Pallacanestro Cantù decided not to proceed with the filing of the appeal. Therefore, it was not a delay in the presentation of the same, but a conscious choice motivated by the investigations made”.
After almost an hour of stoppage, the game was able to resume. Napoli won it by the score of 98-86, yet another defeat for Nicola Brienza’s newly promoted team that took it with the basket: “The long stop, unfortunately, directed the game. We didn’t lose because of that, but it’s clear that the stoppage totally made us lose the rhythm of the game”.
“Until then we had managed to do what we had prepared, we held our own against a decidedly good Napoli. Then Mitrou-Long got going again and we were no longer able to recover from that break” concluded the coach of the Canturina team.
