Napoli market, from'England restarts the assault on one of the big names of Conte’s team

Scott McTominay back at Manchester United? The Mancunian club is reportedly seriously considering it, according to British portal Caught Offside. The Scottish midfielder, who is having his brightest period in Italy and at Napoli, is back in the crosshairs of the Red Devils, impressed by the player’s progress and eager for a top-level reinforcement to give to coach Roben Amorim. Napoli had acquired McTominay at the tail end of the 2024 summer market, for 30.5 million euros.
In Naples, McTominay not only established himself as an absolute pivot of the team, but was also voted Serie A player of the year, an achievement that inevitably rekindled the interest of several Premier League clubs, including the one that had let him leave. Under the guidance of Antonio Conte, the 29-year-old has found a role perfectly tailored to his characteristics: McTominay is considered one of the best offensive midfielders in international soccer, capable of making an impact even in very important competitions.
Napoli’s position regarding a possible offer is clear: the club wants to retain what is, in fact, one of the leaders of the locker room, so much so that he has earned a nickname in Neapolitan dialect, ‘McFratm’. However, as always, economic balances and long-term planning come into play: to open a negotiating table, De Laurentiis and the Neapolitan leadership would only consider offers from 70 million and up, with no possibility of discounts or insertion of technical quid pro quo.
The Neapolitan club, which only twelve months ago lost in the winter market Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who moved to PSG, is in a different situation: there is still time to deal with the potential renewal of McTominay, whose contract expires on June 30, 2028, and it is also for this reason that the first assaults on the Scot seem destined to end in a deadlock.
However, one must take into account the economic power of Premier League clubs, which can afford even very large investments as demonstrated in recent years.
Napoli will have to keep their guard up if they want to avoid losing one of the landmarks of the fourth Scudetto season and the one still underway.
