On return Federica Brignone is already in top 10, disappointment after a few seconds for Sofia Goggia

There was great anticipation for Federica Brignone’s return to competition, 292 days after the terrible injury she suffered last April 3 on Alpe Lusia in Val di Fassa. The champion from Valle d’Aosta achieved an excellent seventh place in the first run of the World Cup giant slalom in Kronplatz (Bolzano).
“It’s been difficult, I was always quiet these days but when I put the sticks out I thought ‘I don’t know if I’m ready. I was afraid I wasn–t going deep enough,– admitted l’Azzurra to the microphones of Rai Sport -I started a little bit’ stiff, then I remembered to breathe and it got better from there”.
“I felt good, the more I warm up the better I feel, with the adrenaline I didn’t feel too much pain. Good test, I am very happy but I want to find my feeling again, how I can ski. Now I broke the ice, I hope to do it in the second run” concluded the 35-year-old from La Salle.
Another bad day, however, for Sofia Goggia. After a disappointing weekend in Tarvisio between downhill and SuperG, the champion from Bergamo did not redeem herself in Kronplatz. Her race, in fact, lasted only fifteen seconds: the Azzurra, who tried an impossible-to-sustain’inclination, slipped, leaving the scene already in the first run.
