The second-round match of the women&#8217s Australian Open between Jasmine Paolini and Magdalena Frech was interrupted around 11:05 a.m. Italian time, after just under forty minutes of play, due to rain. The Bagni di Lucca athlete, at the time of the suspension, was leading four games to one in the first set and was up 15-15, with her opponent serving, during the sixth game.

Paolini arrived at today&#8217s scheduled match after an easy win against Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich, beaten 6-1, 6-2 in a match that lasted just seventy minutes. L’Azzurra is also in the running, as usual, in the women&#8217s doubles, along with Sara Errani: the two cleared the first hurdle on Tuesday, beating 6-3, 6-2 the pair composed of Britain&#8217s Maia Lumsden and China&#8217s Tang Qianhui.

Jasmine Paolini aims, in this edition of the Australian Open, to raise the bar further in a tournament that has seen her reach, at best, the fourth round, reached in the 2024 edition: then it was Anna Kalinskaya who defeated her, 6-4, 6-2. In 2025, however, Jasmine’s tournament stopped a step earlier: in the third round, the Italian champion surrendered to Elina Svitolina, losing 2-6, 6-4, 6-0.
