Virtus Bologna mocked by Fenerbahce, but Dusko Ivanovic praises his men

Bitter defeat for Virtus Bologna, which in the Euroleague loses by a pasting against reigning champions Fenerbahce despite the very heavy absences of Diarra, Smailagic and Vildoza that forced the Vu Nere to play with only four foreigners. In the end, the Turks prevailed with a score of 80-85, but at the end of the game coach Dusko Ivanovic spent words of praise for his team capable of holding its own until the buzzer against such a fearsome opponent and able to take the court with more rotations at its disposal.

“I want to congratulate my players, because we played a good game – Ivanovic said after the game. Certainly we also made some mistakes, especially in the fourth period. At that stage of the game we missed some shots, we had a drop in energy. Now the only thing we can do is to already start focusing on the next game. I just hope to recover someone ahead of Friday, tomorrow we can understand a little bit’more about our situation”.

Ivanovic then wanted to sift through the game, trying to identify the aspects in which Fenerbahce was better than Virtus Bologna. “Tonight what made the difference was the accuracy on three-point shots. But I am sure that games like these can make us grow in terms of experience. Basketball is like that, there are times when you can score more and others when you try but just can&#8217t make it. We will see how it goes the next times”.

Eulogies to Virtus Bologna also came from Sarunas Jasikevicius, coach of Fenerbahce: “We got a great win, especially considering how they had started. And the difficulties we had defensively in the first minutes against a very good Virtus. Of the rest, we have some health problems in the team”.

“However, we were able to make great efforts in the second half, we adjusted on defense and put a great team on the field. I repeat myself, we got a wonderful victory, against a team as great as Virtus Bologna that we faced tonight”, added a very satisfied Jasikevicius.
