Lazio market, fans divided over Alessio Romagnoli

Also among the players leaving Lazio is Alessio Romagnoli: the Anzio defender is wanted by Roberto Mancini’s Al-Sadd and negotiations are close to closing. The Doha-based club is formulating a new offer to convince Claudio Lotito to give up the center-back (the first €5 million proposal was rejected, it could close around 7/8 million). Romagnoli is expected to earn 6 million euros net for three years, a super salary that has become the cause of a huge debate among Lazio fans.
Some biancocelesti fans are attacking Alessio Romagnoli guilty, from their point of view, of putting money ahead of Lazio. According to other fans, however, Claudio Lotito is to blame: the former AC Milan defender’s contract is expiring and he earns 3 million euros a year but at the beginning of last season the biancoceleste president promised him a renewal (with a salary increase) that never came. The Lazio people have started a great debate on X and the’topic is trending in Italy on the popular social network.
Grew up in the youth ranks of Roma, Alessio Romagnoli between 2014 and 2015 played on loan at Sampdoria then was bought by AC Milan for 25 million euros. The defender, who at the time was considered one of the best prospects in Italian soccer, certainly did not happen to be in the best AC Milan team in history and his performance suffered.
The defender’s performance was affected.
Despite the many offers he received during his time in the Rossoneri, Romagnoli decided to stay in the shadow of the Duomo (even wearing the captain’s armband for several years) until 2022, when he moved for free to Lazio, his favorite team. With the Diavolo he totaled 247 appearances, 10 goals and 3 assists.
Alessio Romagnoli could thus be the fifth player to leave Lazio in this winter soccer market session: Dimitrije Kamenovic moved to Lokomotiva in Croatia, Diego González returned to Mexico to Atlas, Mattéo Guendouzi moved to Fenerbahce and Taty Castellanos chose West Ham.
