Ajax is now one step closer to signing Oleksandr Zinchenko. The 29-year-old Ukrainian, who seemed to have been on the radar of both AC Milan and Napoli in the summer, is set to move from Arsenal to Amsterdam, where he will sign a contract valid until the end of the current season.

The left-back, who is also a midfielder if necessary, had been on loan from Arsenal for the past six months to Nottingham Forest, but after the change of coach wanted by volcanic chairman Evangelos Marinakis he found less and less space and is now looking for continuity.

Ajax saw in this situation a great opportunity and, in the last week, started talks with the London club to define a sustainable solution. After all, Zinchenko’s contract with the Gunners expires next summer.

Ajax saw this as a great opportunity and, in the last week, began talks with the London club to work out a sustainable solution.

Ajax had initially targeted a loan deal, but in the end all parties agreed on an outright transfer.

If the 75-time Ukrainian international passes the medical examinations scheduled for this week, he will sign a six-month deal with Ajax. Then it will be seen.
