Lazio fails to rise in Lecce: crossbar saves Sarri

Lazio does not redeem itself: after the heavy 0-3 suffered at home by Como, Maurizio Sarri’s lineup does not go beyond the 0-0 in Lecce in the match valid for the 22nd day of Serie A. The Biancocelesti are inoffensive for most of the match at the Via del Mare and are saved by a crossbar.
In the standings, the Capitolini remain ninth at 29 points, while the Salentini break the series of four consecutive defeats and climb to 18 points, in fourth-last place in the standings.
Lazio struggles in the first half at the Via del Mare. Di Francesco’s team started off much better and created the best chances, while Sarri’s Biancocelesti were limited to two scattered restarts in the first 45′. After a chance with Pierotti, the Giallorossi had a great chance with Coulibaly, well defused by Provedel, and especially on 39′ with Ramadani, who hit the crossbar with a very powerful right-footed shot from the distance.
In the second half, the match was blocked and both coaches tried to upset the balance with several changes: Sarri inserted Dele-Bashiru, Ratkov and Provstgaard, while Di Francesco made the debut of the newly acquired Cheddira and also inserted Sottil. Cheddira himself has a first chance at 70′ but he is unlucky, shortly afterwards Provedel repulses a Sottil free kick.
Sarri’s last card is Isaksen, in for Cancellieri, Di Francesco responds with Tete Morente, in for Pierotti in the final. But the result is not unlocked until the triple whistle, not even after five minutes of recovery.
