Ribaltone in the Lazio household. Alessio Romagnoli in recent days had agreed with Al Sadd, a club that plays in the top league of Qatar currently coached by Roberto Mancini. The deal seemed to be one step away from conclusion, so much so that the player after the match against Lecce had waved an emotional goodbye to the biancocelesti fans present in the guest sector. Romagnoli had put his hand over his heart and applauded the supporters, giving them his jersey: a scene that smelled like goodbye. Instead, everything changed on Sunday.

Lazio with an official statement blocked the operation, perhaps under pressure from coach Maurizio Sarri himself, who had vented about the market after the game against the Salentini. “Alessio Romagnoli was never placed on the market and will remain an biancoceleste player. Despite several requests received in recent weeks, the club&#8217s will is firm in retaining a player considered a central element of the sports project in terms of technical, human and leadership within the team” is the note that abruptly closes the affair.

Romagnoli will thus remain at the club at least until the end of the season. Sarri had vented after the 0-0 draw in Lecce as follows: “So far we are downsizing, then we do the math at the end. If there&#8217s quality there&#8217s quality at 20/30. To the people of Lazio I promised I would do anything and accept anything, I do it for the love they are giving me. Lazio is something you can&#8217t understand, it&#8217s a big story, you don”t understand it until you”re in it.

Still on Lotito: “These are things about which there is no need to answer, ten days ago a player left who came to my office to cry. There isn&#8217t a problem of feeling between me and the team, clearly when 15 out of 25 players are playing someone unhappy is always there, but that is not the feeling. If you sell a player and say that you didn&#8217t get along with Sarri it seems bad to me, also because to me the players who left said anything else’else”.

Sarri commented thus on the point earned at the Via del Mare: “The team did what it could from a tactical and mental point of view. We missed a myriad of balls in the first half. In the second half we grew a bit’ then disappeared in the last 25 meters”.
