In recent days Matteo Giunta lashed out at parents who send their feverish children to kindergarten, and in an Instagram story posted on his profile he wrote: “I am addressing those parents who send their feverish children to kindergarten. You are irresponsible p… of m…!” then Federica Pellegrini added: “Realizing that if it is not on Instagram it does not exist… I apologize to all the people who were working on ‘commitments’ for a long time that I had to cancel this week!!! Tough week, very”.

After the very harsh outburst, a fuss was raised especially about the language adopted by the couple. Through the columns of Corriere della Sera, Matteo Giunta replied: “Today I would avoid rewriting the’insult, at that moment I was an angry father with his daughter in the hospital and I wrote as it came to me. I am not a robot, I reacted d’instinctively as anyone who finds himself with water at his throat. It was probably talked about also, or mostly, because I used the swear word. Did the language cause discussion? Well, sometimes it&#8217s the only way to be heard”.

“Pediatricians can explain to you a hundred times that it is a frequent condition but living it is another thing’continued Federica Pellegrini–s husband. I understand that there are family in difficulty who cannot be absent from work. But they should think that there are other parents in the same situation as them, who have no alternative either and who find their child at home with a fever of 40 because of someone else&#8217s decision. If we live in a community we should behave accordingly. Instead, selfishness often prevails’selfishness”.

“After the pandemic we seemed to have learned something, then it was enough to sneeze and stay home. Now we are at the’opposite: children with fever, cough, cold sent to school. From Covid we have learned nothing. In many kindergartens if the child has no more than a fever of 38 degrees the child stays in the classroom with the others. You don”t even need a doctor”s certificate to return anymore, concluded Matteo Giunta.

On the issue of language, Massimo Gramellini also intervened: “Will there still be a difference between calling someone a piece of shit in private and writing it on Instagram, or not? I answer myself: no. I was thinking about this while reading the post of two intelligent people who are used to dealing with stress. It crumbled the veil that separated the thinkable from the sayable” he wrote in the columns of Corriere della Sera.
