Roma and Milan put the brakes on each other in a match that at the Stadio Olimpico put very important points up for grabs not only for the Champions League race, but also to check the Scudetto ambitions of the Capitolini and Meneghini. In the end, the final result said 1-1, with Massimiliano Allegri&#8217s men finding themselves -5 from the leading Inter. Disappointing result also for the Giallorossi, who did not take advantage of Napoli’s defeat and move to 43 points in cohabitation with the partenopei. Fifth-place Juventus, however, is -1.

Roma seems to be off to a better start, with Malen going for a shot already in the first minute of the match. Milan responded with Saelemaekers who raised his aim too much, but the Giallorossi were preferred: good Maignan on Koné, then Malen’s header was inaccurate, who towards half time also left-footed did not find the goal. A first half greatly affected by the heavy pitch ended with another shot by the Dutchman, which was opposed by the usual Maignan. Moments before halftime, however, Celik is dangerous.

After a Giallorossi monologue, the resumption opens with the first chance of the match for Milan: Rabiot collects from Bartesaghi and engages Svilar. Roma tried to regroup and slowed the pace, also because Gian Piero Gasperini soon lost Koné to injury. Problems for the hosts, however, increase at 62′, when the Rossoneri advantage arrives. The goal came from a corner kick that Modric did not beat toward the center of the area but back on Bartesaghi. Having received the return ball, the Croatian then fishes De Winter, who from the heart of the’area strikes the ball into the net.

Coldly hit, Roma tried to get back into the attack despite the pinwheel of substitutions wanted by both Allegri and Gasperini. It went better for the second, when Bartesaghi intercepted a ball from Celik in the box with his arm. Inevitable the penalty, which Lorenzo Pellegrini converted at 74′.

Already recalled to the bench Malen and Dybala, Gasperini also replaces Soulé with the newly acquired Venturino but can no longer frighten Milan concretely. Roma only claims a possible, new penalty on Wesley, but the result no longer changes. And perhaps no one is really satisfied.
