Serie A 2025-2026: Roma-Milan, the likely lineups
Roma and Milan face each other at 8:45 p.m. in the Sunday post-match of the 22nd day of Serie A. A challenge at the top at the Olimpico between the second and fourth in the class: the Rossoneri, who are coming off successes against Como and Lecce, are hunting for their seventh away win to stay three points behind leaders Inter. Gasperini’s team wants to consolidate its position in the Champions zone and put third-place Napoli in its sights: the Giallorossi have won their last three matches against Torino, Sassuolo and Lecce, without ever conceding a goal.
Malen, back from his sensational debut with Torino, starts in Roma’s attack with Soulé and Dybala supporting him. In midfield Kone is paired with Cristante, in defense Mancini is not at his best but will be there, with him Ndicka and Ghilardi in place of Hermoso. Roma has always struggled in big matches this season, Gasperini analyzed the situation this way: “I don’t want to speculate on the little point, you make the jumps when you win games. We did well in the cup and league, but we missed some wins with the bigs, we are getting closer and if we get results with the bigs we will feel stronger”.
Milan, Salemaekers is in doubt: if he won’t make it in his place Athekame could play. In attack Nkunku and Leao favored over Pulisic and Fullkrug, in defense De Winter should still start from 1′ at the expense of Pavlovic. “Roma is not a surprise, I knew that with Gasperini we would be there to fight for the Champions – pointed out Allegri – . There are four teams for three places, Inter has a 90-point projection. Hoping the teams in Europe go as far as possible so there will be five Champions places, otherwise one stays out”.
