Back-and-forth in three minutes, then Udinese routs Verona

The twenty-second day of Serie A ended with an away win for Udinese, which beat Hellas Verona 3-1. At the Bentegodi the Bianconeri took the lead midway through the first half with Atta but were immediately taken back by the Gialloblù through Orban. In the second half, however, Zanoli and Davis gave the Friulians the victory. This is only the second away victory on this day. Only Cagliari, in fact, managed to win away from home by storming the ‘Franchi’ knocking out Fiorentina 2-1.
After ten minutes Udinese immediately tried but Perilli responded great on Davis, who, however, was in an offside position at the start of the action. On 19′ Friulans again dangerous but Karlstrom’s shot from the limit grazes the post. At 23′ the guests take the lead with a shot from Atta deflected by Slotsager that beats Perilli. Verona’s reaction, however, is immediate: just three minutes pass and Orban makes it 1-1 on an assist from Sarr, author of a beautiful personal action. In the final Zemura committed Perilli with a powerful left-footed shot at the first post.
In the second half Udinese took the lead again in 58′: Zemura took a free kick from the limit that ended up against the barrier, the ball reached Zanoli who came up with a marvelous goal with an outside shot that went in at the crossbar of the posts. At 65′ Perilli saves on Atta but a minute later he can do nothing about Davis, who exchanges with Atta, and slots it in. It was a huge blow for the hosts: Zanetti sent on Harroui, Niasse and Isaac in a desperate attempt to reopen the game but the result did not change.

Thanks to this victory Udinese climbs to ninth place in the standings on 29 points, tied with Lazio, which did not go beyond a draw with Lecce, while Verona remains stuck on 14 points, the tail end together with Pisa.
In the next round of the championship, the Scaligeri will be engaged on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 8:45 p.m. at the Unipol Domus against Cagliari, while the Friulians are expected to face a more challenging test: on Monday, Feb. 2 at 8:45 p.m. at the Bluenergy Stadium comes Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma.
