Will you take up Federica's invitation?
We will probably find out in 2024

“The truth is for me and my team to know, seeing day by day how it goes and whether I will feel up to trying before the’Olympics. The points regulation does not entice people to come back and does not protect those who would like to do so because, if I compete only at the Games next season I will be No. 3 in all disciplines, while if I compete more than that I will end up outside the top 30” he had told Gazzetta dello Sport about 10 days ago.

“At the happiest time in my career it really didn&#8217t take, I still had a month of work ahead of me and I was looking forward to it. Instead, I will have to face a new challenge in which I will put all of myself, as always,” Federica had said in April right after the surgery.

“She had a very bad fall, so she had this fairly major bill of the lateral tibial plateau. After the exams, seeing also how much the knee had swollen, we decided to go immediately to the operating room – had clarified the president of the FISI Medical Commission Andrea Panzeri.-. The fracture is challenging and the’bone is broken significantly, but she is strong, fortunately she is healthy and has never been hurt in a major way as happened on this occasion. It&#8217s difficult to make a prediction about recovery time. We will have a more accurate picture in the coming days”.

In her remarkable career, Federica Brignone has won three Olympic medals: in Pyeongchang 2018 she won bronze in the giant slalom, placing behind Mikaela Shiffrin and Ragnhild Mowinckel, while in Beijing 2022 she took another bronze in the combined (behind Michelle Gisin and Wendy Holdener) and a silver in the giant slalom, ahead of only Sara Hector.

CONI President Luciano Buonfiglio announced in December the four flag bearers for the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics: it will be Federica Brignone, Arianna Fontana, Amos Mosaner and Federico Pellegrino who will represent Italy in the Opening Ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games, scheduled for Feb. 6, in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. The Winter Olympics returns to Italy after 20 years and already enters the history of the Olympic movement: for the first time in the history of the Olympic Games, in fact, a country will field four athletes as flag bearers in the Opening Ceremony: an absolute record that makes CONI’s choice unique in the five-circle panorama.
